Soft washing is the safe, effective method to wash your homes exterior or roof using low pressure washing. We have invested in specialized equipment required to perform soft washing in order to prevent damage to customers properties. The soft wash method has been in use for quite some time in the southern states but is a relatively new methodology in the northeast.
Why is soft washing superior to pressure washing when it comes to washing your homes exterior or roof? For starters soft washing won’t damage your home like high pressure washing will. Pressure washing can damage your siding, causing etching which will cause discoloration and actually promote mold and mildew growth.
Etching is when your siding becomes porous due to improper pressure washing, the porous surface now allows mold and mildew to easily attach itself to your homes siding requiring more frequent cleanings. If your home is soft washed it causes no damage to siding or other components of your home, because the smooth surface of your siding is retained your homes exterior will require less cleaning and maintenance saving you money.
How is soft washing so effective without the use of high pressure? Soft washing uses about the same amount of water pressure as your garden hose but what makes it so effective is the combination of cleaning solutions and surfactant that are blended and sprayed on your homes siding and allowed to dwell. The surfactant is what makes this whole system so effective, it allows the cleaning solution to cling to the surface of your home giving the cleaning solution enough time to do it’s job and lift and loosen the mold, mildew and dirt from the surface.
Without the surfactant the cleaning solution would just run right off your home rendering the whole process ineffective because the cleaning solution would not have enough time to do it’s job and the low pressure would not be effective. Soft washing is the only safe and effective choice for cleaning your homes exterior and roof, in fact pressure washing will void your shingle manufacturers warranty. I will go into further detail on roof cleaning in my next blog installment.
